Well, Tottenham Hotspur won’t be hiring Antonio Conte, but they will be getting Fabio Paratici.

Talks between Spurs and Conte broke down on Friday night.

But Sky Sports News have claimed that the North Londoners remain close to hiring Paratici as their new director of football.

The Italian was responsible for Juventus’ recruitment and only left the Italian giants last month.

It’s probably no coincidence that Tottenham now reportedly want to sign Leonardo Bonucci.

The long-serving Juventus defender, who has won eight league titles in Turin, is on Spurs’ radar this summer [TmW].

The problem is, he turned 34 in May and some Lilywhites fans aren’t exactly jumping for joy over hearing he could be bound for North London:

Is it viable?

Well there’s an obvious connection between Bonucci and Paratici.

But anybody who the latter wants to sign at Tottenham will have to be approved by chairman Daniel Levy.

And fortunately for these Tottenham fans, Levy probably won’t sign off on the addition of a 34-year-old defender.

It isn’t as if he’s free.

Bonucci has another three years on his contract at Juve and therefore could still cost a bit of money.

Spurs undoubtedly needs defenders, just younger ones.
