It was announced today that Tottenham Hotspur boss Nuno Espirito Santo has been nominated for the Manager of the Month award for August.
The Premier League revealed this afternoon that the Spurs head coach would be up against Thomas Tuchel, Rafael Benitez and David Moyes.
Nuno should certainly scoop the award because Tottenham are top of the Premier League table and the only team to win nine points from a possible nine last month.
And yet, some fans of the North London club don’t want him to win it.
That’s because the last time a Tottenham boss won this award, the wheels fell off their season.
The Lilywhites were top of the Premier League table when it was announced that Jose Mourinho won Manager of the Month last November.
And in December, they went on to drop 10 points after losing to Liverpool and Leicester City, and drawing with Wolves and Crystal Palace, beginning 2021 in fifth place.
For that reason, some Tottenham supporters believe that it’s something of a poisioned chalice and are hoping Nuno does not win.
