Liverpool have been given a bit of an injury scare ahead of their Premier League return.
The Reds resume their Premier League title bid with a Merseyside derby against Everton on Sunday week.
But it remains to be seen if one Liverpool star will be available for selection.
Jurgen Klopp’s side, who have a 25-point lead at the top of the Premier League table, thumped Blackburn Rovers 6-0 at Anfield on Thursday.
But the event was somewhat soured by reports that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain picked up an ankle knock, according to The Standard.
It goes without saying that a major injury to the former Arsenal star – a £40 million signing in 2017 [The Guardian] – would be crushing, particularly because he spent a year on the sidelines with a knee problem across 2018 and 2019.
Here’s how Liverpool fans reacted to the report of his injury:
Hopefully for the player’s and Liverpool’s sake it isn’t a serious injury.
And the good news is that it’s his ankle, so it isn’t related to the ACL issue that he sustained against Roma two years ago.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has started 13 Premier League games for the Reds this season.
