It has been a very mixed season for Davinson Sanchez at Tottenham Hotspur.
The Colombia international has sort of yoyo-ed in and out of Jose Mourinho’s first XI on a regular basis for the majority of the campaign.
His performance in that 3-3 draw with West Ham United during the first half of the campaign saw him exiled from Premier League games for a few months, but an upturn in fortunes led to the Portuguese coach recalling him into his back four for much of 2021 so far.
Sanchez, a £42 million signing from Ajax in 2017, is undeniably a good defender, but he is prone to a lapse of concentration which more times than not winds up costing the Lilywhites a goal.
But Football London reporter Alasdair Gold has claimed that there is people inside Tottenham who think that the 24-year-old could get a lot better with the right centre-back partner.
That being said, quite a few fans of the North London club don’t seem to be buying it all.
Here’s how they responded to Gold’s claim on Twitter:
Sanchez is definitely the sort of player who is either brilliant or brutal, depending on who’s beside him in central defence.
With an experienced head like Toby Alderweireld, the former Ajax powerhouse can coast through a game, but alongside somebody like Eric Dier, things can and have gotten messy.
