West Ham have made an enquiry for Torino striker M’Baye Niang, according to Italian media outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, and some Hammers fans took to Twitter in reaction to the news.

Manuel Pellegrini has already been extremely busy at the London Stadium this summer, strengthening in almost every position apart from his attacking department.

If the Chilean is to guide his side back into contention for the European places this season, he absolutely must bring in an accomplished striker to help provide more competition for Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez through the middle.

Whether Niang is the man for the job, though, is highly questionable.

He scored just four goals in 31 appearances in all competitions for Torino last season, and he is far from a competent finisher.

The Senegal international is immensely fast, however, and can operate on either flank, so he could be a useful option for West Ham if Pellegrini is looking to add some more pace to his wide attacking department.
