Some Arsenal fans on Twitter are worried by Mikel Arteta’s comments about Ben White.
Speaking to a press conference this morning, the Arsenal boss, whose side visit Leicester City tomorrow afternoon, claims that White hasn’t fully trained this week.
The Gunners centre-back was taken off early in the League Cup win over Leeds United on Tuesday due to a bug.
White was photographed at London Colney on Thursday but Arteta has claimed that he wasn’t heavily involved in the session.
The 24-year-old has become a vital player for Arteta since his £50 million move to the Emirates Stadium.
And if he can’t take his place in Arsenal’s back four, the Foxes’ chances of victory goes right up.
Here’s how some fans are reacting to Arteta’s comments about White:
Understandable
On the one hand, it’s good news that something as simple as a bug has kept White out of full training at Arsenal.
On the other, he’s a massive player for the club and fans are right to be concerned.
Facing Leicester away is a very difficult fixture in the calendar and with players like Patson Daka and Jamie Vardy, Arteta’s back four will have a tough 90 minutes.
So if it’s Rob Holding or Calum Chambers alongside Gabriel in their defence then that is a bit of a worry.
Not to be disparaging toward Holding or Chambers, but White is a £50 million defender and obviously the team is going to suffer without him, if he is indeed out.
It’s worth noting that Arteta didn’t rule out the player officially, just revealed that he hasn’t been training as normal since the Leeds win.
