Partick Thistle fans have taken to Twitter to warn Newcastle about Gary Caldwell, following his arrival as Under-23 Lead Development Coach.
What’s the story?
Well, the 39-year-old has been hired to replace Chris Hogg, but only as an interim for now.
Nevertheless, Partick Thistle fans have still felt the need to tell Newcastle fans not to expect much from the Scot.
Caldwell relegated Partick Thistle.
Speaking to the Daily Record, striker Souleymane Coulibaly even went as far as saying that his manager ‘destroyed’ the club and that he knows nothing about football.
Despite that, the former Wigan centre-back has landed a job at St James’ Park, where he rose through the academy ranks many years ago.
Caldwell will oversee his duties while Newcastle hold an external recruitment process to replace Hogg on a permanent basis.
Gary Caldwell could be hired permanently

With Peter Ramage and Steve Harper already working at the club, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Caldwell hired on a permanent basis.
Interestingly – as you might’ve gathered – Newcastle have already taken official announcement photos of Caldwell.
The Magpies have also written a lengthy announcement article, something you wouldn’t expect them to do for an interim appointment.

If he is hired, at least he’s not working with the first-team, based on the concerning comments from Partick Thistle fans.
However, it’s certainly a worry for the club’s young talent if Caldwell is as bad as the Partick Thistle fans make him out to be.
For now, let’s see what they’ve been saying about Caldwell on Twitter…
