Jose Mourinho sounded annoyed at Tottenham Hotspur star Tanguy Ndombele today.
Spurs played host to North London rivals Arsenal and there was a notable omission in the form of the French midfielder from Mourinho’s team sheet.
Speaking to Sky Sports before kickoff, the Portuguese manager said: “It’s a little problem he couldn’t recover from. We were positive. We were expecting [him to play] until the last moments. This morning he decided – of course, he decided – that he was not ready.”
The Tottenham boss looked to emphasise the fact that it was Ndombele who pulled out of the game, rather than the medical staff deeming him unfit to play.
And some Lilywhites fans on Twitter have picked up on a degree of potential tension between the pair.
The last thing Tottenham need is another Ndombele saga.
The former Lyon star and Mourinho fell out toward the end of last season, culminating in the 24-year-old failing to even make the squad on some occasions.
Despite speculation of a move away, he wound up staying with Tottenham and has looked superb for the most part this season.
And there’s no doubt that fans will be hoping Mourinho can park his frustrations and move forward with Ndombele again.
