Arsenal and Liverpool face mounting competition for the signing of RB Salzburg talent Noah Okafor, with Ligue 1 side OGC Nice now joining the race for the Swiss international.

According to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, Nice manager Lucien Favre is a fan of the 22-year-old attacker as the ninth-place Ligue 1 side look to improve their squad in the January transfer window, with Okafor seemingly a target for the French Riviera club.

Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenburg had previously reported this week that interest was growing in Okafor, with Salzburg setting a £35m price tag on the attacker as the likes of Liverpool eye a move for the forward. Whilst according to Calciomercato, Arsenal are also chasing the attacker.

And now, Nice have joined the race to sign Okafor, with the Ligue 1 side having arguably the weakest case out of the lot to recruit the versatile strike, with Favre’s side well off the pace in the division as performances this season have left many fans disappointed about the short-term future.

Indeed, Nice’s form this season could actually motivate Okafor to push for a Premier League transfer or even to stay in Austria, with a move to the south of France a decision that would be a step below what the Swiss International is currently at with Salzburg.

With Liverpool and Arsenal two of the biggest sides interested in Okafor, Nice’s eagerness to sign the attacker will do little to worry the Premier League duos chances of landing the forward, with the pair likely to duke it out in the January window for the Salzburg star.

Nice are often regarded as one of the most ambitious clubs in France, with their billionaire owners allowing the Ligue 1 side to make some quite impressive moves, as seen this summer when Nicolas Pepe was signed on loan with Aaron Ramsey and Ross Barkley joining for free.

However, signing Okafor is a level beyond what Nice are capable of given the huge interest in the attacker as well as Salzburg’s status as regulars in the UEFA Champions League, with a club like Arsenal or Liverpool the ideal next step for the 22-year-old attacker.
