Ogbonna shares most important quality David Moyes’ brought to West Ham

David Moyes has enjoyed a decent spell as West Ham United boss and their Premier League relegation fears have certainly been eased slightly.

Angelo Ogbonna has told West Ham’s official website that the most important quality that David Moyes has brought into the Hammers’ squad during his time in charge is discipline.

The Irons go into the final 11 games of the Premier League season in 12th in the table. However, their position remains precarious, with only four points separating the side from the bottom three.

But their position was a lot more concerning when Moyes took charge of the side earlier in the campaign. The appointment seemed to leave a number of the fans underwhelmed, but he has overseen some impressive performances and wins. And Ogbonna suggested what exactly has changed since Moyes arrived at the London Stadium.

“When the team was doing really bad, we changed the manager and he has brought a lot of energy and a lot of positive things, but the most important thing he brought was discipline because with discipline, you can build whatever you want,” he told the club’s official website.

“Every manager has his type of method, but the important thing was the discipline, because with this you can train harder or train less, but you know what you have to do.”

Moyes will be hoping that that discipline has a positive impact on the squad as the season reaches its conclusion as they will need every advantage that they can get with 10th place Bournemouth only five points clear of the relegation zone right now.

They will certainly need that discipline during their remaining fixtures as they face eight of the top 10 in their final 11 games, while they also face a Swansea side who sit right near the top of the form table.

They kick off the daunting run of games with a trip to Anfield next Saturday to face Liverpool before they go to face the Swans at the Liberty Stadium at the start of March.
