Grujic has been on loan at Hertha for the past two seasons and is scheduled to return to his parent club Liverpool this summer.
Preetz has said that the German club want to keep hold of the 24-year-old midfielder, and that they are in talks with the Reds.
However, Preetz has added that Liverpool want the midfielder back, and that he will have a pre-season training with the Reds.
Preetz told Kicker, as translated by The Liverpool Echo: “Of course, we are in talks with Liverpool. Last summer, a door opened. Jurgen Klopp signalled to me that they were ready to loan Marko for another year.
“Now they want him back and he should complete the [pre-season] preparation there. I cannot say today what will happen. But Marko is a player we will always think about here at Hertha.”
Stats
According to WhoScored, Grujic scored four goals and provided one assist in 29 Bundesliga matches for Hertha this season.
During the 2018-19 campaign, the Serbia international made 20 starts and two substitute appearances in the league for the German club, scoring five goals and providing one assist in the process, according to WhoScored.
Meanwhile, Swansea City manager Steve Cooper has given his take on Rhian Brewster’s chances of making it at Liverpool next season.
The striker is on loan at Championship club Swansea from the Reds at the moment.
Cooper told BBC Sport: “It’s up to him. We’re going to give him opportunities here and, as long as he keeps applying himself and performing as he is, he will get good game time with us.
“In the end with young players it’s one thing giving them opportunities, it’s another thing taking them. That’s what gets players to the level they end up at.”
