Besiktas have wrapped up a deal for PSV Eindhoven defender Nicolas Isimat-Mirin.

Celtic having any sort of interest in French defender Nicolas Isimat-Mirin really didn’t last long, for a couple of reasons.
The Bhoys are in the market for new signings this month, and with Filip Benkovic only on loan and Dedryck Boyata set to leave either this month or at the end of the season, a new centre back may be on Brendan Rodgers’ radar.
One short-lived link was with Isimat-MIrin, as murmurings began about a move, only for the Daily Record to cite Parkhead sources who claimed no deal was being targeted.
Well, there’s absolutely no chance of Celtic landing him now; Besiktas confirmed on their official Twitter account on Sunday that he has signed for them.
The 27-year-old heads to Turkey in a deal where the fee and even the contract length haven’t been disclosed, but given that his PSV deal was set to expire this summer, it probably won’t have been a huge price.

Isimat-Mirin has featured for the likes of Monaco and Valenciennes in the past, and helped PSV win last season’s Eredivisie title – but he won’t be heading to Glasgow to aid Celtic’s push for the Scottish Premiership crown this season.
Rodgers no doubt has a number of potential signings in mind, but Isimat-Mirin will go down as one of the spurious January rumours that was never going to come off.
