Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been so impressive for Everton this season he’s capable of making a big-money move to Manchester City, former City striker Shaun Goater has said on Twitter.

Few would have predicted the Toffees would sit at the top of the Premier League table a month into the new season, setting the pace with four wins from four.

They are currently eight points and 13 places clear of Pep Guardiola’s City – even if the Manchester giants have played a game less than their north west neighbours.

Injuries to Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus haven’t helped at the Etihad either. Guardiola has been forced to throw 17-year-old Liam Delap in at the deep end in an attempt to give his side a much-needed focal point.

But, according to Goater, Man City could do a lot worse than having a serious look at a man who, with ten goals in seven games, is the most in-form striker in Europe.

While summer signings James Rodriguez, Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure have transformed a perennially underachieving Everton side into a well-balanced, well-oiled machine under Carlo Ancelotti, there are no prizes for guessing Everton’s player of the season so far.

After netting hat-tricks Toffees legend Gary Lineker would have been proud of against West Ham and West Brom, Calvert-Lewin marked his England debut with yet another goal in Thursday’s 3-0 thrashing of Wales.

The Sun reports that, three years after joining Everton from Sheffield United for £1.5 million, ‘DCL’ is now valued at a staggering £80 million.
