Lee Hendrie says Newcastle United transfer target Anthony Gordon has ‘gone off the radar’ in terms of his performances for Everton this season.

Frank Lampard has been sacked. Everton have no manager. Fans are protesting against the board. Will owner Farhad Moshiri sell? And Anthony Gordon misses training again, as reported by Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie.

What is going wrong is going wrong for the Merseyside club, but it seems as though one team thriving at the top, Newcastle United, are looking to pounce on that situation.

Even though Gordon hasn’t scored since October, and only has three goals and no assists to his name, Eddie Howe is still keen on taking the 21-year-old on board.

It could be argued that if the Toffees can get a fee for the player, then, not only will the club be happy to sell him, but so could the fans.

Nonetheless, former Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie shared his thoughts on the winger’s situation, as he told Sky Sports News (24/01/23).

“You look at Gordon as well, he was linked with Chelsea,” said Hendrie. “All of a sudden, he’s just literally gone off the radar.

“He is quality and a young lad, I totally get it. But for someone to disappear. I remember being at Villa and sort of having similar situations. You do take it on board because it’s your club.

“I just feel he’s gone from that (being a goal threat) to that (not performing).”

EVERTON SHOULD SELL GORDON

It’s turning toxic on Merseyside and Gordon’s performances have been at the heart of it.

It seems as though the relationship between the boyhood Everton fan and his own supporters have taken a turn for the worst.

Yes, by winning games and a new manager coming in that could all change, but if the relegation-threatened side can get money for him, then sell up and bring in a much-needed few players.
