Leon Osman has stated that Richarlison looked ‘lively’ despite Tottenham Hotspur suffering a 2-0 defeat to Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The former Everton player claimed that Richarlison feels like he belongs in Tottenham colours and he ‘suits’ Antonio Conte’s playing style.

It was a sloppy game for both teams, for large parts, but it was the home side who made the ball talk during the latter stages of the game.

Paulinho headed home as the clock edged towards stoppage-time, before an outstanding run from Arthur Gomes sealed the points for Sporting.

That’s Tottenham’s first defeat of the season and it’s time to pick themselves up for their home tie against Leicester City at the weekend.

Nonetheless, this is what Osman made of Richarlison’s performance, one week after he scored a brace on his European debut, as he told BBC Sport.

“The team seems to suit him,” said Osman. “Not only on the field and within the 90 minutes. But also off the field.

“He seems to have settled within the squad very quickly, from what you see off social media. That’s as big as what happens on the field. You feel comfortable and that you belong. And you can see that.

“The style seems to suit him. He is constantly making these runs. But he plays right on the edge for Spurs.

“Richarlison has looked lively. He has played on the shoulder. He has run the line.”

ONE TO FORGET FOR TOTTENHAM

Tottenham have to put this defeat behind them and accept the fact that they were beaten by the better side in Portugal.

In truth, Spurs fans would have probably taken it at the start of the season, only one defeat and they are heading towards October.

But this is where they are going to be tested because they will be expected to bounce back in a potential banana skin game against Leicester City.

Brendan Rodgers side are sitting bottom of the table, and whilst they have had their troubles this season, the team is far better than what the table suggests.
