Aston Villa fans have hit back at Steve Bruce’s comments after their side beat Newcastle United 2-0 in the Premier League on Saturday.

It was a typical average performance from Newcastle, who started the game well, but in the end, were beaten by the quality of Villa’s new star striker.

Danny Ings opened the scoring in the first half with a stunning overhead kick and then Villa were awarded a penalty after the break when VAR adjudged that Jamaal Lascelles handled the ball as Tyrone Mings was going to head home.

But it was something that Bruce didn’t agree with and he wasn’t happy with the officiating during the game, including the call to overturn Callum Wilson’s penalty because he was offside.

After the game, Bruce claimed that ‘the big decisions went against us’ and also stated that no-one in the ground thought it was a penalty, as quoted by the Independent.

But Villa fans made it clear to their former boss that they thought it was a spot-kick and the correct call was made.

There’s no doubt that Newcastle fans have been frustrated with Bruce and haven’t seen eye-to-eye with him ever since he walked through their doors – a feeling Villa supporters know too well.

At best, the score should have finished 2-1 to Villa, but one thing is for sure, other than the opening 20 minutes, Newcastle didn’t showcase any real quality.

But given that Bruce is opting to focus on his team’s ‘bad luck’ and not his team’s performance, Villa fans have heard it all before from the Englishman.

Here is a selection of Villa fans reacting to Bruce’s comments:
