Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has said that he hopes that the club are able to sign Houssem Aouar from Lyon in the summer transfer window, as quoted in The Express and The Mirror.

According to The Mirror, Arsenal are interested in signing Lyon midfielder Aouar this summer.

The report has claimed that the Gunners made a bid of £32 million for the youngster last week, but Lyon turned it down, with the French club looking for £55 million.

It remains to be seen if the Premier League club are willing to – or able to – cough up £55 million to secure the services of the 22-year-old.

Aubameyang has raved about the Frenchman, and the Arsenal striker hopes that the North London club are able to sign Aouar before the summer transfer window closes next month.

The Express quotes Aubameyang as saying about Aouar: “Of course we are in favour [of signing him], I will not hide it! Even if he is at Lyon!”

The Mirror quotes the Arsenal striker as saying about the Frenchman: “He’s a very good player. I hope we will be lucky to have these types of players at the club, I’m sure he can bring a lot to us. “I hope he will come even though he’s a Lyonnais.”

Would Houssem Aouar be a good signing for Arsenal?

Aouar is a very good midfielder who scores goals, provides assists, helps out defensively and controls the middle of the park.

According to WhoScored, the youngster scored three goals and provided four assists in Ligue 1, and scored one goal and provided four assists in the Champions League last season.

The Frenchman is still improving and developing, but given his experience in Ligue 1 and in Europe, he would be able to make an immediate impact at the Gunners.
