Florentino Perez told EL Larguero on Wednesday evening that the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal will have to pay a fine ‘if they do leave’ the now abandoned European Super League.
Whilst all six English clubs, including the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal, have released statements saying they are withdrawing from the ESL, Real Madrid’s president shared that ‘nobody has left’, as of yet.
Of course, all of that will now become a long and drawn-out process, and a lot will have to happen for them to legally and officially leave the pocket-filling league they decided to enter in the first place.
Liverpool and Arsenal supporters might just be glad that Perez will hit the owners, who have decided to leave, in the pockets.
At the end of the day, if points deductions are handed out, or teams are kicked out of the competition, then players, managers and supporters – all of whom are innocent in this – would be the ones suffering the most.
So, the best way to deal with such a situation is by individually banning those involved and hitting them with very heavy fines.
Some have already resigned on the back of this fiasco, whilst the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal have apologised to their fans.
But with those owners looking to bulk up their pockets in the first place with this deal, perhaps burning them as a punishment is the best way forward.
