Josko Gvardiol insists he will stay at Bundesliga giants RB Leipzig over the summer despite reports suggesting he is the number one transfer target for Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur, speaking to BILD.
In September 2020, the Croatia international turned down a £25,000-a-week offer from Leeds United, opting for the taurine-powered Bundesliga powerhouses rather than Elland Road.
A year-and-a-half later, Gvardiol’s commitment to the Leipzig cause will once again come into question.
The Mail believe that the Zagreb-born 20-year-old has moved ahead of Pau Torres and Sven Botman in Fabio Paratici’s pecking order. He has become Spurs’ number one transfer target despite an eye-watering £50 million price-tag.
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are also reportedly interested.
But, with another four years remaining on his Leipzig contract, Gvardiol is in no rush to follow in the footsteps of Timo Werner, Naby Keita and co.
Have Tottenham already been snubbed by Josko Gvardiol?
“I really enjoy every day with this great team, at this first-class club,” the former Dinamo Zagreb starlet explains.
“I don’t think about anything else. And if you ask me if I’ll play here next year? Yes, of course (I will stay).”

Tottenham have made a commanding centre half a must ahead of Antonio Conte’s first summer window at the helm. Finding one, however, won’t be easy.
Botman, meanwhile, appears to be favouring a move to Serie A leaders AC Milan. That is despite Amanda Staveley’s claim that the Ligue 1 champion ‘desperately’ wants to join Newcastle United’s ambitious project (Athletic).
“I was informed of Tottenham’s interest,” Spain international Torres said a few months back. “But I was clear from the first moment what I wanted, and so I decided calmly.
“I decided that the best thing for me was to continue at Villarreal. We have many challenges this season that I am passionate about. It didn’t take long for me to decide.”
