Jeff Stelling has stated that ‘there is talk’ that Burnley’s home clash against West Ham today will be a transfer ‘audition’ for James Tarkowski, as he told Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports (11/12/21 at 1:10 pm).
But the Sky presenter stated that can’t be the case because ‘of course’ West Ham want to sign the hard-hitting Burnley defender.
Tarkowski will be in Claret and Blue colours later on today, but with a Burnley badge on his chest as Sean Dyche’s men welcome the Hammers to Turf Moor.
In the build-up to this match, there have been rumours that West Ham want to sign Tarkowski when the transfer window re-opens in January.
Stelling suggested that it’s obvious that David Moyes wants to sign him, as he reacted to those rumours.
“There is talk that this is an audition for Tarkowski,” said Stelling. “I am not sure that sort of thing exists really.
“They want Tarkowski, don’t they? Of course, they do.”

The issue facing Burnley regarding Tarkowski is that he is out-of-contract in the summer.
They could cash-in on the player in January, but they would then decrease their chances of staying up this season.
Or they keep hold of him, reject any advances, let him go for free next summer and possibly keep their Premier League status, as a result.
Either way, money talks and money especially talks from a team flying high, producing the goods and thriving in Europe.
