Crystal Palace and West Ham are both interested in signing Olivier Giroud when his contract expires this summer.

It was The Sun who claimed that the Eagles and the Hammers are keen to sign the France international, and he has now shared an update on what he plans to do at the end of the season.

What’s the story?

Well, Giroud was asked if he would like to stay at AC Milan beyond his contract expiring in July after last night’s 0-0 draw against Tottenham saw the Italian giants reach the Champions League Quarter-Final.

In response, Tutto Mercato Web quote the 36-year-old as saying: “Of course I do. I feel very good in Milan, we had a great season last season and this one we want to make a good run in the Champions League.”

Unless AC Milan decide against offering Giroud a contract extension, it would seem that the situation is settled.

Those comments will surely come as a blow to Patrick Vieira and David Moyes – as well as Fulham and Brentford, who are also keen to sign France’s record goalscorer on a free transfer this summer.

So far this season, Giroud has scored 11 goals while also providing six assists in 33 appearances, which is a fantastic return from the veteran striker.

Crystal Palace & West Ham can find better than Giroud

While the AC Milan No.9 is a fantastic player, Crystal Palace and West Ham should be targeting a younger option anyway, one they can rely on for many years.

Giroud turns 37 in September, and therefore does not represent a long-term solution in attack for the south Londoners nor the east Londoners.

Nevertheless, the Frenchman doesn’t sound interested in a return to London anyway based on his comments, so it’s time for both Crystal Palace and West Ham to turn their attention elsewhere.
