Martin Odegaard has told the official Arsenal website that he and new signing Gabriel Jesus have a “great connection” in training. The two almost combined to score against Crystal Palace last Friday, during a 2-0 win.
Indeed, Jesus slipped in the new Arsenal skipper with a delicate pass. However, Odegaard chose not to shoot, instead trying to pass when he might have scored, had he looked to find the back of the net at Selhurst Park.
Jesus is a wonderful signing. While he did not score on his competitive debut, he looked sharp and worked hard for his new side. The two will be looking to combine when they play host to Leicester City on Saturday afternoon.
A tricky test, but perhaps a good time to play against a Leicester side that are yet to make any new signings. Odegaard spoke ahead of the match, telling media he has a solid connection with Jesus behind the scenes.

“I think our combination play was really good in pre-season and we have a great connection in training too. I enjoy so much playing with him. So hopefully we can see more of that in the next games,” Odegaard said.

Other then Bukayo Saka, these two players are arguably Arsenal’s best. If they can strike a connection in the coming weeks and months, then the Gunners have a chance of finishing in the top four – and Europa League glory.
The Premier League looks as competitive as ever. Liverpool and Manchester City fighting for the title. Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs fighting to keep pace with the top two and finish in the top four.
But the connection between Jesus and Odegaard could see Arsenal just slip themselves into fourth this season. It would be a wonderful achievement for a side that have had their ups and downs under Mikel Arteta.
