The Middlesbrough defender could be heading to West Bromwich Albion, according to the bookies.

Popular bookmakers SkyBET have slashed the odds on the Baggies signing Boro centre-back Ben Gibson.

The 24-year-old is one of the most highly sought-after defenders in England, after impressing for the Teeside outfit last term, but Garry Monk does not want to lose one of his star players.

Middlesbrough are so reluctant to sell that they have slapped a £25 million price-tag on Gibson, according to the Sun.

The Boro man showcased his talent on a consistent basis last season, despite his side’s poor campaign that ultimately ended in relegation.

He is incredibly agile, and strong in the air, as well as being quick along the ground. Another string to Gibson’s bow is his uncanny knack of being able to anticipate danger before it has even developed, and whoever ends up winning the race to sign him will have one heck of a player on their hands.

And SkyBET believe that the 24-year-old could be plying his trade at the Hawthorns next term, listing West Brom as 8/11 favourites to sign him, ahead of Leicester City at 10/1.

And if Tony Pulis does in fact manage to get a deal for Gibson over the line, it would be a real statement of intent from the Baggies.
