The Middlesbrough centre-back could be a useful addition to the Tottenham Hotspur squad this summer.
Middlesbrough’s Ben Gibson
Popular bookmakers SkyBET have installed Spurs as the new second favourites in the race to sign Boro defender Ben Gibson.
The 24-year-old centre-back is almost certain to leave the Riverside during the summer transfer window, after his side suffered relegation to the Championship.
He has proven to be a rock for the Teesside outfit this term, playing every single one of their 37 Premier League games, helping his team to the best defensive record in the division – quite an achievement considering their final finishing position of 19th.
With his future up in the air, and so many clubs thought to hold a strong interest in him, predicting where he will be playing next season is next to impossible, but SkyBET believe that a possible destination for Gibson could be north London.
The popular bookies have cut Tottenham into 9/2 second favourites, having previously listed them at 10/1, although they still class Spurs’ fierce rivals Chelsea as favourites to sign the Boro man, listing the Blues at 7/4 to win the race for his signature.

With Mauricio Pochettino’s penchant for signing youngsters, and helping develop them into world-class stars, however, the Lilywhites could be the ideal club for the 24-year-old to make real progress, and blossom into a regular member of the national team.
If he did move to Spurs, he would more than likely have to accept playing second fiddle to the likes of Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld, so despite the obvious benefits that would come with a move to Tottenham, he might be better served in choosing a club where more regular first-team football will be on offer.
With this in mind, a move to either West Bromwich Albion or Leicester City – listed at 9/1 and 11/1 respectively, might be more likely.
And with the transfer window just around the corner, this will certainly be one to keep an eye on.
