The Middlesbrough man would be a superb addition to the Leicester City squad this summer.

Popular bookmakers SkyBET have installed the Foxes as the new clear favourites in the race to sign Boro centre-back Ben Gibson.

The 24-year-old defender is one of the most highly sought-after players of this summer’s transfer window, with a whole host of clubs interested in signing him including Tottenham, Everton, Leicester and Chelsea, according to the Sun.

With so many clubs in the race to sign the Middlesbrough man, it is likely that the opportunity of regular first-team football could be enough to sway Gibson when making his decision.

SkyBET believe that he could be plying his trade at the King Power Stadium next season, however, and make the Foxes 4/1 favourites to obtain his signature, ahead of Stoke City, who come in at a distant 10/1.

Gibson would be a superb signing for the east Midlands outfit, with their two first-choice centre-backs Wes Morgan and Robert Huth both on the wrong side of 32.

The 24-year-old’s strength in the air, combined with his mature footballing brain makes him an excellent all-round defender. He is also quick along the ground, which enables him to atone for any errors that he might make.

He would provide excellent competition for both Morgan and Huth, and his presence amongst the Leicester squad would surely help reinvigorate the experienced pair.

Middlesbrough have slapped a £25 million price-tag on Gibson, according to the Sun, however, so the Leicester board will have to dig deep, if they are serious about bringing him to the King Power Stadium.
