Popular bookmakers BETVICTOR have installed the Reds as as surprise contenders in the race to sign Hammers ace Winston Reid, listing them as joint third favourites.
Jürgen Klopp has endured criticism from Liverpool fans for his side’s weak defensive displays, so the addition of an established centre-back will surely feature highly on the German’s wish-list.
And the 29-year-old New Zealand international could be just the man for the job.
He joined West Ham in the summer of 2010, and has gone on to be one of the Hammers’ most consistent performers, making 204 appearances for the east London outfit.
And BETVICTOR believe that his future could very well lie away from the London Stadium, listing Everton and Arsenal as the front-runners for his signature at 2/1 and 4/1 respectively.
It comes as somewhat as a surprise, however, given the lack of links, to see Liverpool third on the list at 6/1.
Much will surely depend on whether the Merseyside outfit are successful in their pursuit of Virgil van Dijk, but if they fail to secure the Dutchman’s signature, Winston Reid would be a more than capable alternative.
