The England international has his critics, but on his day is one of the country’s finest midfield players. The problem for Wilshere is the wealth of talent currently at Arsene Wenger’s disposal in the midfield department, and with just 10 months remaining on his deal with Arsenal, an exit from the Emirates seems to be a plausible outcome.
And whilst SkyBET make Newcastle and West Ham the front-runners to win the race for his signature at 11/4 and 13/2 respectively, it is 8/1 third favourites Birmingham City who are the most surprising team on the list.
Harry Redknapp would certainly love to have a player of Wilshere’s ilk at St Andrews this season, and if he manages to convince him into moving to the Midlands club, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for Birmingham.
