Aston Villa are the clear favourites to sign West Ham United winger Robert Snodgrass.
When Tony Xia took to Twitter to insist that the Daily Mail’s report earlier in the month that Aston Villa wanted to sign Robert Snodgrass from West Ham was just a rumour, Villans supporters would have been forgiven for not giving the Mail’s report much more thought.
However, it now appears that bookmaker Sky Bet believe that Villa signing the Scotsman cannot be ruled out entirely.

Sky Bet have listed Steve Bruce’s men as the 4/9 favourites to sign the 29-year-old, while the odds of the winger staying at the London Stadium are currently 13/8.
It would hardly be a surprise if the Hammers were willing to listen to offers for the former Leeds man as he endured a fairly torrid spell at the club following his move from Hull City in January, which cost Slaven Bilic’s side £10.2 million, according to Sky Sports.
And with Villa failing to win either of their opening two league games so far in the Championship – losing 3-0 to Cardiff City at the weekend to fall into the division’s bottom three – it may also not be a shock if Bruce was now urging Xia to squeeze every last penny out of the transfer budget while they try to avoid breaching financial fair play regulations.
And, simply based on the bookies’ current odds, it would appear that there is a good chance that Villa have a plan up their sleeve in their pursuit of the Irons wide-man.
