The Sunderland manager is now 8/1 to succeed Mick McCarthy at Ipswich Town.

Coleman is now 8/1 to succeed Mick McCarthy – himself, once of Sunderland – at Portman Road, having previously been low down the betting.

It follows Sunderland’s relegation from the Championship on Saturday, which has sparked questions about the Welshman’s future.
However, Coleman admitted prior to that that he intends to remain at the Stadium of Light whichever division the Mackems are in next season.

Wigan Athletic manager Paul Cook (11/4) remains the favourite for McCarthy’s old job, ahead of Lincoln City’s Danny Cowley (7/2), former England midfielders Steven Gerrard (9/2) and Frank Lampard (6/1), and Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray (7/1) – who is a former Ipswich player.
Prior to being appointed Sunderland manager last November, Coleman spent five years in charge of Wales, following spells at Fulham, Real Sociedad, Larissa and Coventry City.
