Popular bookmakers SkyBet have slashed the odds on the Hammers winning the race to sign Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, making them the new 6/1 second favourites to win the race for his signature.
The 23-year-old has been with the Gunners for five-and-a-half years, after making his £12 million switch from Southampton in 2011, but his career seems to have stagnated over the past couple of seasons, due to a combination of injury problems and not being given a consistent run in the first-team by Arsene Wenger.
He has showcased a different facet to his game this season, however, after being deployed in the central midfield role, and any potential suitors for the Ox will surely look at his versatility as a major bonus when weighing up a move for him.
And SkyBet reckon that West Ham have a great chance of bringing him to the London Stadium in the summer, making them the new 6/1 second favourites to sign the Arsenal man, behind Liverpool who are favourites at 5/1.
Arsene Wenger will surely not be keen on losing the 23-year-old, however, and much will depend on whether the England international puts pen-to-paper on a new deal with the club, with his current contract set to expire in the summer of 2018.
If West Ham do manage to bring him to the club in the summer, he could prove to be a wonderful signing for Slaven Bilic.
He possesses all of the attributes that the Hammers currently are short of in their first-team, what with his explosive nature and blistering pace from a standing start.
His ability to deliver dangerous balls into the box could also help bring the best out of Andy Carroll, should a move come to fruition.
