The Hull City man would be an excellent signing for Southampton.

Popular bookmakers BETVICTOR have installed the Saints as the new 4/1 second favourites in the race to sign highly-rated Hull City centre-back Harry Maguire.

The 24-year-old has impressed this season, with a succession of commanding displays at the heart of the Tigers’ defence, and has been linked with a move to some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur and Everton (Daily Star).

The newspaper also claim that the 24-year-old will be available this summer for around £15 million – a total bargain considering the current inflated state of the transfer market.

And with Virgil van Dijk’s future at St Mary’s far from certain, the addition of a quality young centre-back will surely be high on Claude Puel’s priority list this summer.

BETVICTOR list Southampton as second favourites to sign Maguire at 4/1, behind West Ham United who lead the list at 3/1.

Merseyside pair Everton and Liverpool are further behind in the race, according to the bookies, at 8/1.

The south coast outfit’s hopes of signing Maguire will be greatly improved if Hull fail to maintain their Premier League status this season, although fierce competition form other clubs could also prove problematic.
