Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone is one of the favourites to become the next Arsenal manager after his odds were slashed with bookmakers Ladbrokes – who have issued a press release on his future.

The 46-year-old’s future has been thrown into question after his odds to become Arsene Wenger’s successor went from 20/1 to 7/1 with the bookmakers, following the revelation that the Argentine will step down from his current position in May.

Arsenal fans have been calling for Wenger’s head for years now, with many fans believing that they need a change of direction if they want to contend for the Premier League title any time soon.

Simeone has achieved great success in his time as manager for Atletico Madrid since joining back in 2011. In his five years at the helm he has guided the club to success in La Liga, the Copa Del Rey, the Europa League and the Super Cup. He has even taken them to two Champions League finals, unfortunately losing to rivals Real Madrid on both occasions.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes News told HITC Sport via e-mail: “Simeone is set to become hot property and the latest odds suggest it won’t be long before Arsenal make a move for one of the most in-demand managers on the continent.”

He’s still second in the running behind Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe at 6/1, however it certainly does make for some interesting discussions among the Emirates faithful.
