West Ham United swooped to land Jordan Hugill from Preston North End on deadline day in January – but the move hasn’t paid off for anybody.

The Hammers were looking for a new striker, and decided to splash £8million (Daily Mail) on Hugill, who had risen up from non-league football.

The 25-year-old hit eight goals in 27 games for Preston earlier this season, but he has remarkably made just three substitute appearances for West Ham, totalling only 22 minutes.

In fact, The Sun now report that West Ham could move Hugill on this summer, either sending him out on loan or even selling him after a torrid spell at the London Stadium.

Bookmakers have now started pricing up odds for Hugill’s next club, with Bet Victor making Leeds United and Reading the 8/1 joint-favourites to secure his signature.

Stoke City are in at 12/1, which would hand Hugill a return to Staffordshire having spent one season with Port Vale before signing for Preston.

A move to Stoke wouldn’t be a huge surprise, given that manager Paul Lambert wanted Hugill at Wolves according to the Birmingham Mail, and he would be the ideal Championship hitman if the Potters suffer relegation.
