Will Newcastle United sign Steven Gerrard?
Odds have been dramatically cut on Newcastle United making a move for Steven Gerrard.
SkyBet have Newcastle at just 5/1 to sign the midfielder, having not even been in consideration previously in their list of potential destinations for the ex-England captain.

Gerrard is currently under contract to MLS side LA Galaxy, but his deal expires on December 31.
This would enable him to return to Europe, and his Instagram post last night read, ‘I will miss you LA’, seems to hint he will not be extending his deal.
Gerrard could of course renew elsewhere in America, or even decide to retire. Yet the bookies seem to believe that the 2005 Champions League winner has one more run left in him back across the Atlantic.

Scottish side Celtic are current favourites to sign him at 4/1, and have been for the past month, with the Scottish Sun reporting the possibility that Brendan Rodgers could seek to re-sign his old Liverpool maestro.
Newcastle follow at 5/1, with another of his former managers, Rafa Benitez at the helm of the Championship side.
It does not look like the North East club necessarily need Gerrard’s help to win promotion, but he would surely be nice to have around anyway, and could be a positive influence on the younger members of the team.
The possibility of Steven Gerrard rejoining former club Liverpool is priced at 12/1.
