Clotet left Leeds United earlier this month.
Former Leeds United assistant coach Pep Clotet is now odds on favourite to become Oxford United’s next manager.
The Spaniard left Elland Road in the aftermath of Thomas Christiansen’s appointment earlier this month but, unlike James Beattie and Darryl Flahavan, he opted against following Garry Monk to Middlesbrough.

Clotet, who had, at one stage, been tipped to succeed Monk as Leeds head coach, tweeted after his Whites departure was confirmed: “It’s been over 3 amazing years working alongside my friend @GarryMonk, but it’s now time for me to move on and look for a new stage in my career.
“I’m grateful to Garry for everything & I wish him all the best, because he truly deserves it.”
Appleton quit the Kassam Stadium last week to become Craig Shakespeare’s number two at Leicester City, despite leading Oxford to eighth in League One last term.

Clotet, who studied Louis van Gaal at Barcelona before embarking on a coaching career of his own, also worked under Monk at Swansea City and managed Halmstad and Malaga B earlier this decade.
