Blackburn Rovers have signed Brighton and Hove Albion’s Christian Walton on loan.

Some Blackburn Rovers supporters have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on the confirmation of signing Brighton and Hove Albion goalkeeper Christian Walton on a season-long loan deal.
Rovers have been on the lookout for a new shot-stopper after selling last season’s number one David Raya to Championship rivals Brentford for a fee in the region of £3 million.
While Jayson Leutwiler provides good back-up, Rovers boss Tony Mowbray has seen it necessary to bring in a new number one and Walton’s impressive displays for Wigan Athletic last season made him a viable option.
But some Blackburn fans feel the club should have opted for a more experienced option, while others would have preferred to see the Lancashire side use the Raya fee to bring in a permanent signing.
Walton was initially on the books of Plymouth Argyle before joining Brighton’s academy in 2013.
The 23-year-old has enjoyed several loan spells away from the Seagulls, featuring for the likes of Plymouth and Luton Town in League Two and Bury, Southend United and Wigan in League One.

Last season Walton proved himself at Championship level with Wigan, helping the Latics preserve their Championship status. However, heavy competition at Brighton has seen him move out on loan again.
Walton has made over 100 career starts and despite his young age, not all Blackburn fans are concerned about his supposed lack of experience with some believing he will turn out to be a sound addition.
