Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told the club’s official website what really impressed him about Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United.

Klopp has praised Newcastle for doing their best against his Liverpool side at Anfield in the Premier League on Thursday evening.

The Liverpool boss has added that Newcastle had a ‘very defensive organisation’, and it seems that it impressed him.

Jurgen Klopp on Newcastle United

Klopp told Liverpool’s official website: “The opponent is obviously fighting for staying in the league, put everything in, threw everything on the pitch, had a very defensive organisation, went 1-0 up – so this is the recipe for a difficult game.”

Praising Eddie Howe’s side

Newcastle still remain in danger of getting relegated to the Championship.

However, we must say that the performance of Newcastle against Liverpool, especially in the second half, was encouraging.

The Magpies kept the Liverpool attackers at bay.

Yes, the final score was 3-1 to Liverpool.

But it could have been worse.

Just look at what happened to Leeds United against Manchester City.

True, Newcastle were very defensive against Liverpool, but what else could they do?

For a team like Newcastle who are struggling to score and leaking goals, it was never going to be a matter of taking Liverpool on.

In our opinion, Newcastle should be pleased with their overall performance against Liverpool and should look to build on it.
