Junior Firpo has been speaking to DAZN about his time at Leeds, and he made a big revelation about his plans after he departs Elland Road.

What’s the story?

Well, the £13m man admitted he would “obviously” like to rejoin Real Betis one day, when his time at Elland Road comes to an end.

As quoted by AS, Firpo said: “I would love to spend a lot of time here, but, well, in the end, the house always wins and I would like to return to Betis, obviously.”

The 25-year-old also left the door open to rejoining Barcelona, claiming that it would be “very difficult” to reject the Spanish giants.

Firpo played in La Liga from 2014 up until joining Leeds in 2021, so he’s clearly comfortable and familiar with life in Spain.

So far this season, the Dominican Republican has made 20 appearances for Leeds in all competitions, providing one assist.

In our view, Firpo needs to read the room.

Of course, the left-back isn’t demanding an immediate exit from Elland Road, although he has to understand the situation Leeds are in.

Marcelo Bielsa finds his side just three points off 18th-placed Burnley, who worryingly have two games in hand over the Whites.

It’s time for everyone to pull together and focus on Leeds, rather than discuss leaving Yorkshire and talk about future plans.

If Leeds avoid relegation to the Championship, Firpo can talk about Real Betis and Barcelona as much as he pleases.

For now, however, it’s time to focus on Leeds.
