Thomas Frank has dropped a big bombshell about the future of Brentford forward Ivan Toney who has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.

Brentford forward Ivan Toney has been linked with a move to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal this season with the Gunners keen on signing a new centre-forward in the off-season.

Since making his return to the Bees first time after a betting ban had kept him out for the majority of this season, Toney has made an instant impact and netted a brilliant free-kick against Nottingham Forest, scored another goal against Tottenham Hotspur and played a crucial part in Neal Maupay’s opener against Manchester City.

A move away from the club this summer is looking more and more likely for Toney.

Frank on Toney’s future

“It is relatively obvious that Ivan Toney will probably be sold this summer,” Frank said to Danish media outlet Tipsbladet. “We also know what he is worth. I don’t think there are many strikers in the world who are better than him right now.

“He is a really skilled striker who is in his prime football age. Personally, as a coach, I would prefer to keep Toney but one day it could be fun to see him on a top team.

“This winter we actually had no offers for him, but it will surprise me if there aren’t a lot of clubs that will be interested in him.”

He has registered 70 goals in 127 games for Brentford in all competitions, including 20 in 33 Premier League appearances last season.

Toney and Arsenal

As Arteta’s side strive to win their first Premier League title in nearly two decades, the one issue for the Gunners this campaign has been their goalscoring struggles.

During their recent 3-1 victory over Liverpool, despite winning the game, the Gunners had ample opportunity to make the game safe and comfortable but failed to take their first-half chances.

It was only a late Leandro Trossard goal that made the game safe against the Merseyside club. Adding Toney to the team this summer may well be vital for the Gunners as he would add that goalscoring consistency that Arsenal desperately need.
