The NYPD have issued an official update during the New York Knicks championship parade, confirming that all viewing pens in Lower Manhattan reached capacity on Thursday, 18 June 2026.
The update came as large crowds gathered along the parade route through the Canyon of Heroes.
NYPD posted that no one else would be allowed into the viewing area once the pens were full.

The official update was posted at 11:28 a.m. on Thursday, 18 June 2026. NYPD wrote: “KNICKS PARADE UPDATE: All viewing pens are full. No one else will be allowed in the viewing area.”
The department also said anyone leaving the viewing pens would not be allowed reentry.
That meant fans already inside the designated viewing areas had to remain there if they wanted to keep their place.
Subway disruption confirmed as large crowds gather in Lower Manhattan
The parade began at 10:00 a.m. in Lower Manhattan on Thursday.
The official route started around Battery Park and Bowling Green before heading north along Broadway through the Canyon of Heroes and finishing at City Hall.
The event was free and open to the public, with supporters lining the route for the Knicks’ championship celebration.
NYPD also said there were no trains stopping south of Canal St in Manhattan.
The update followed the MTA service plan for the Knicks championship parade.
The MTA also published parade service information for fans travelling to and from Lower Manhattan.
For fans still heading towards the route, the official message was clear. The viewing areas were full, reentry was restricted, and subway access south of Canal Street had been disrupted.
