The Sheffield Wednesday midfielder began his career at Nottingham Forest.
Nottingham Forest were linked with a move for Lewis McGugan by the Mirror in the summer – could the Reds renew their interest this month?

How is he getting on?
Despite being fully fit, McGugan is yet to play for Sheffield Wednesday this season and has not even made a matchday squad having been transfer listed in the summer. The 28-year-old was only a bit-part player last term but still scored six goals in 17 games for the Owls.
Do Forest still need him?
Though midfield is perhaps not a primary area of concern, it just might be if Henri Lansbury flies the nest as expected. McGugan is very much a like-for-like alternative to the 26-year-old.
Can they get him in January?
McGugan is one of three Wednesday players free to leave in January, but is thought to be on high wages at Hillsborough and a loan until the end of the season is perhaps the most likely outcome, should Forest reignite their interest. A return to the City Ground, where the Long Eaton native came through the ranks, is sure to appeal.
