The Tottenham Hotspur teenager has not featured for the club this season but that could change this month.

At this stage in his career, Marcus Edwards would have no doubt hoped to be a semi-regular in Tottenham Hotspur’s fist-team, getting minutes here and there and starting when circumstances allowed.
Instead, the 19-year-old has been unable to build on his 15-minute cameo against Gillingham in last season’s EFL Cup, with Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino unwilling to put his faith in the attacking midfielder despite the chances afforded to some of his under-23 teammates.

Kazaiah Sterling and Luke Amos were included in the match day squad for Tottenham’s dead rubber against APOEL Nicosia last month, while Edwards had to make do with yet another UEFA Youth League outing. But what chance the latter finally making his first appearance this season when Spurs take on AFC Wimbledon in the third round of the FA Cup?
With the matches coming thick and fast for Tottenham, Pochettino will need to make some smart decisions in terms of team selections, and calling on Edwards could be ideal for all concerned.

It would give the talented teenager an opportunity to prove what he can do from the outset, allow some of Tottenham’s senior stars to be rested, and give the fans a chance to see what all the fuss is (or at least was) about.
While Edwards’ star has definitely faded having once been touted as the next big thing, his talent is impossible to ignore as he continues to shine at under-19 and under-23 level.
With Tottenham playing Everton and West Ham United either side of the FA Cup clash, there may be no better time to call on Edwards this season.
