Wolverhampton Wanderers got their season back on track last night with a win over Leeds United.
Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo spoke to reporters after his team easily brushed aside Leeds United in the Championship last night, and offered high words of praise for the travelling army of fans who cheered their team on throughout the 90 minutes, as quoted by the club’s official website.
The Black Country outfit cemented their position at the top of the Championship table with last night’s victory, and they now sit six points clear of second placed Cardiff City, but perhaps more importantly, a further four ahead of third placed Aston Villa.
Nuno has worked wonders at Molineux, since taking over in the summer, firmly establishing himself as a real fan favourite in the process, and the feeling is mutual.
The Portuguese has often found time to praise Wolves’ fantastic away support, and this time was no different.
Nuno expressed his his pride at the manner in which the club’s fans continue to back the players, when speaking to reporters last night, and quoted via the club’s official website:
“I’m proud of the fans that came and sing all night – I think Wolves is a team that wants to grow. Grow with our fans, with the club, the people, with the city of Wolverhampton – we want to keep going and keep doing this.”
Wolves will need their fans to be at their most vocal once again on Saturday, when they head to Villa Park to take on Steve Bruce’s in-form Aston Villa side.
A win for Nuno’s men against their Midlands rivals really would see them stamp their authority down on the division, and would put them in a commanding position from which to earn promotion back to the top flight.
