Tottenham Hotspur fans have been left frustrated as Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial both returned to training ahead of their game on Saturday evening.

Back to full strength

Varane and Martial haven’t been fit enough to feature for United recently, but could come back into contention against Tottenham at the weekend, as reported by the Red Devils’ official club site.

Whether either of the pair will start remains to be seen, but the fitness of Varane in particular looks to be a boost for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

And it’s fair to say that the news that the pair are now back in United training (L’Equipe) has hardly increased the optimism of Spurs fans ahead of the contest.

Both managers under pressure

Much of the focus going into the game has been on Solskjaer’s future, but Nuno is arguably under just as much pressure at Tottenham.

The Portuguese boss has not convinced many Spurs fans, with his style of football coming under criticism.

Tottenham’s attacking play has looked stifled in recent weeks and even their most recent win over Burnley in the League Cup was hardly convincing.

A defeat against the struggling Red Devils could, therefore, spell disaster for Nuno – despite his brief time in the job so far.

Spurs go into the game sitting in sixth place in the Premier League table, but are likely to drop down to mid-table if they are beaten.
