According to The Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur are ready to sell Harry Winks.
The report claims that Tottenham will be listening to ‘sensible offers’ for the 26-year-old midfielder.
It has been a rollercoaster season for Winks in North London.
But if Spurs do wind up selling him this summer, it might be one of the few things that Nuno Espirito Santo was actually right about.
Winks wasn’t a first-team regular under Nuno.
In fact, sometimes he didn’t even the matchday squad in what was a pretty clear indication that the Portuguese manager just didn’t rate the Hotspur Way academy graduate.
Early in Antonio Conte’s reign that decision by Nuno was looking increasingly foolish.
And that’s because under the Italian, Winks was proving himself and reminding English football that he is actually a talent.
However, Rodrigo Bentancur’s arrival has forced him to be a bit-part player in North London once again.
And if Tottenham do follow through with selling Winks this summer it’ll almost vindicate the former Wolverhampton Wanderers manager in not believing the player was good enough.
There’s no doubt that Winks is good enough for the Premier League, but perhaps insufficient quality for a team with designs on getting back into the top four and ultimately winning the Premier League at some point down the line.
