Wolverhampton Wanderers fans expect great things from their side in the Premier League next season.
Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo spoke to reporters yesterday, suggesting that any talk of his side finishing inside the top 10 of the Premier League next season is unrealistic, and that it would be a big mistake for his players to be aiming for that, as quoted by the Express & Star.
The Black Country outfit have been superb in the Championship this season, and topped the table from October 31st, finishing the season with an impressive 99 points to show for their efforts.
Many fans and pundits alike have already predicted that the Wolves squad is already good enough to finish inside the top half of the top flight next season, but Nuno urged caution.
The Portuguese spoke to reporters and suggested that it would be a big mistake for his players to be targeting a top 10 finish next season, as quoted by the Express & Star:
“What I feel is that expectations are very high and I am the only one that my expectations aren’t so high. I am very cautious of what’s going on. The summer is important, to have decisions on the squad and then we will see. We have to improve and work hard but we cannot say we are going to fight for the top 10. That will be a big mistake.”
Wolves are expected to be heavily active during this summer’s transfer window, and despite Nuno’s words of caution, they will surely be looking for a top 10 finish, if the Portuguese manages to get his player recruitment right.
