Wolverhampton Wanderers have been transformed under Nuno.
Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo spoke exclusively to the Express & Star in the aftermath of his side securing promotion back to the Premier League, and highlighted how his players deserve great credit for immediately trusting his managerial methods when he took over back in the summer of 2017.
The Black Country outfit have been quite simply brilliant this season, and need just one more point to secure the Championship title – quite the turnaround from last term when they finished 15th in the table, 36 points adrift of league leaders Newcastle United.
Nuno came into the club with ambitious ideas, although he was unheralded in the management world, at least in England he was.
The Portuguese deserves great credit for the job that he has done at Molineux, but the 44-year-old told the Express & Star how it is his players who deserve the most praise for adapting quickly to his methods:
“They believed in something that was changing. When you come and find something and you want to change you say ‘Will this work with my idea, with my vision?’. First of all what you have to conquer is the trust of the players – and they trust and believed and kept on doing that. Fantastic.”
Next up for Wolves is a trip to Greater Manchester to take on Bolton Wanderers on Saturday, and Nuno’s men will be looking to finish their season in fine style, with 104 points the target.
