Wolverhampton Wanderers are currently in the midst of a really challenging period.
Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo addressed the media in the aftermath of his side’s bitterly disappointing 2-0 defeat at Fulham yesterday, and explained how the recent hectic fixture schedule has adversely affected his team, as quoted by the Express & Star.
These must be worrying times for Wolves fans, with their side currently in the midst of arguably their worst run of form since the season began.
Nuno’s side have taken just two points from their last three games, and their lead at the top of the table could be cut to just six points today, if Cardiff City manage to beat Bristol City in the 12 o’clock Championship kick-off.
The Portuguese spoke to reporters after his side’s 2-0 defeat at Craven Cottage, and pointed to the recent tough cycle of games as a potential reason why his team have struggled to pick up points over the past few weeks, as quoted by the Express & Star:
“The reaction (from Wednesday’s draw) was there in the first half, we did well and the team was organised with good possession, good combinations, chances, counter attacks. That was the answer. Wednesday didn’t affect us but what did affect us was the tough cycle that we had, three games in a short period of time. There’s evidence of that, it’s human nature. But in terms of psychological impact, nothing. It’s over now. So now we have to analyse.”
Next up for the Black Country outfit is a home game against Reading on Saturday, and nothing less than a win will do, as they look to get their promotion drive back on track.
