Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno has raved about Liverpool star Fabinho, as quoted in The Mirror.

Nuno briefly managed the Brazil international defensive midfielder when he was in charge of Rio Ave in Portugal in 2012.

Fabinho had loan spells at Real Madrid and AS Monaco during his time at Rio Ave before making the move to the Ligue 1 club permanent in 2015.

The 27-year-old has been on the books of Liverpool since 2018 and has established himself as a key figure in manager Jurgen Klopp’s team.

Wolves will take on Liverpool at the Molineux Stadium in the Premier League on Monday evening, and ahead of the game, Nuno has spoken highly of Fabinho.

Nuno told The Mirror about Fabinho: “Fabinho is an amazing, fantastic player.”

The Wolves boss added: “He was a fantastic boy and an amazing football player. Then he did Real Madrid, Monaco and now Liverpool. He was not the player he is now and was just a young boy of talent.”

Important player for Liverpool

Fabinho is a defensive midfielder by trade, but he has been playing in defence this season due to long-term injuries to Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez.

The 27-year-old played in midfield in the Champions League last week, and perhaps manager Klopp will deploy him in defensive midfield from now.

According to WhoScored, Fabinho has made 18 starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League, and has made five starts and one substitute appearance in the Champions League for the Merseyside club this season.
