Tottenham Hotspur head coach Nuno has said that Bryan Gil and Sergio Reguilon are really sad now, as quoted in Football.London.

Nuno has said that Reguilon and Gil have returned to Tottenham from international duty with Spain “really sad”.

Spain lost to France in the 2021 UEFA Nations League Final over the international break.

Spurs left-back Reguilon and winger Gil were part of the Spain squad.

Hugo Lloris was part of the France squad that won the UEFA Nations League.

Nuno told Football.London: “During an international break, always these situations happen. Some players play a lot of games, some play don’t even get one minute. And that is what causes disruption.

“Because after that, when you receive them, some of them come very happy because they achieve fantastic things like Hugo did, some of them come really sad like Regi and Bryan, some like you said with a lot of minutes on their legs, some just go there, sleep and eat.

“It causes a lot of problems. But what’s happening now, what we want is for them to return as soon as possible, like tomorrow, some of them already joined us. But it’s always disruption.”

Bouncing back

It must be really disappointing for Reguilon and Gil, but they will get chances to win major silverware with Spain again.

After all, Reguilon is 24 and Gil is only 20.

The two players will be determined to put their disappointment with Spain behind them and bounce back with Spurs.

Tottenham will take on Newcastle United in the Premier League this weekend.

Reguilon is likely to start at left-back for Spurs, while head coach Nuno will probably keep Gil on the substitutes’ bench.

Spurs will hope to pick up all three points from the Premier League game and maintain their challenge for the top four.
